Welcome to WholeMade Kitchen! My name is Helen Allard and I am so glad you’re starting your journey towards a healthier, more vibrant life.
I am a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) and a Certified Traditional Foods Cook with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Human Movement Studies. I consider it my true calling in life to help others lead their most vibrant and healthy lives by adopting an ANCESTRAL approach to their diet and lifestyle. My goal is to help people reverse their symptoms and better their lives by sharing my understanding of what REAL food is and how to incorporate ancestral diet and lifestyle principles into our 21st century lives.
My interest in nutrition was spawned during my career as an elite athlete in the Australian Lightweight Women’s Rowing Team in the late 1980’s – a career that was short lived when years of starving to ‘make weight’ and a grueling training regimen finally took their toll.
At 40, suffering from debilitating abdominal pain, brain fog and joint pain, I knew I needed to make a serious lifestyle change. Additionally, when my son was diagnosed with Autism and my husband was diagnosed with an Auto-Immune Disease, I realized that conventional medicine didn’t have the answers to our chronic health problems and wasn’t providing the results I needed. Over the ensuing few years, I discovered that an Ancestral approach to our diet and lifestyle would transform my health and that of my family.
History tells us our ancestors didn’t suffer the debilitating health conditions that so many people, especially our children, experience today. When I started researching why that was, I quickly learned that a nutrient dense, whole food diet prepared using traditional methods was the starting point for our recovery. By incorporating ancestral staples like bone broths and lacto-fermented vegetables and making lifestyle choices that bring balance to our physiology and psychology, I have found the sustainable answers I was seeking.
Today, I have healed my leaky gut, identified the food sensitivities that were wreaking havoc on my immune system and lost the 30+ pounds that had accumulated after my athletic career ended. As I reach my 50’s, I have achieved a level of health, fitness and vitality that sees the most vibrant me start each new day. I am now dedicated to mentoring others to achieve the same. There is nothing more empowering than having the knowledge and solutions to take charge of your own health and wellness.
